Flat Stanley

The book (original) is always a favorite in my class. We then proceed to make our own 'Stanleys'.
Families choose a host family -- often grandparents, aunts/uncles/cousins, or a special friend.
He folds up nicely in an envelope accompanied with a letter of greetings, and is on his way. He spends two or more weeks with his hosts (we don't want him to wear out his welcome), then comes back with all kinds of fun adventure stories.  This year, 15 different U.S. states, and 2 countries.

As a fun  (spontaneous idea), we had a FLAT PARTY the last day before Spring Break began. It was a huge hit. My families kept thinking of more 'flat yummies' and we had quite a feast!   There were strawberry and cucumber slices, too. (They came after the picture.)

A parent has a friend who owns a cookie store, and she had these made for each of the kids
(and me, too!)  Sweet!!
