Making Paper

I LOVE making paper with my students. They are WOWed by the experience and the end results.   The district art center provides the kit with all the supplies. All we have to do is tear paper (reusable paper) the day before and let it soak in water overnight. The whole process, with 2 parent helpers, takes about an hour and a half.
In addition, I collect the blossoms from the Palo Verde  trees in my neighborhood (they drop pretty  yellow flowers by the 'millions' this time of year!) and sprinkle them on top of the  pulp mixture.  The new paper then dries overnight and we get a fun surprise when we peel it off the cloth the next day (or in our case Monday).
